  •      Glaucoma is a chronic neurodegenerative disease of the optic nerve. Glaucoma blindness is irreversible, but preventable.Treatment of glaucoma is based on reducing the risk factors whilst improving quality of life. The Department of Ophthalmology at the Prince of Songkla University is the largest Southern-Thailand referral center. Because, of such a high volume of glaucomatous patients being treated at this department it allows for the fellow to have the best opportunities of taking care of said patients. This high volume of patient treatments results in the ability of doing various surgical procedures with confidence. The fellow will also have the opportunity to pursue research projects during their fellowship.
