  • Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences

  •     We offer two programs: Master of Science (Biomedical Sciences) and Doctor of Philosophy (Biomedical Sciences). The programs focused on the study of cell biology and molecular structures in medicine, aiming to produce lifelong learning graduate students with ability to conduct quality research at the international level. Various activities are provided to create an efficient learning and working environment.

  • Aim of Program


        1. Knowledge in basic and applied sciences in the area of Biomedical Sciences.
        2. Knowledge and professional skills in conducting biomedical research at an international level.
        3. Attitude and skills in lifelong learning.
        4. Skill in presentation and communication.
        5. Having moral, ethics and responsibility as well as teamwork.

  • Research Topics in Biomedical Sciences


        • WT1 gene in breast cancer.
        • Colorectal cancer pathogenesis.
        • Tumor markers and its applications.
        • Proteomics and protein function in cancer.
        • Molecular epidemiology, diagnosis and pathogenesis of microbial infections.
        • Computational study of proteins regarding blood-related diseases.
        • Anti-cancer drug development.
        • Genetic study of autism and mental retardation.

  • Curricula Options


    Both coursework and research based program are provided with the
        Master of Science Program in Biomedical Sciences (M.Sc. (Biomedical Sciences))
    The program consists of at least 36 credits of study with two study plans to choose:
        • Plan A 1 (Research only)
        A thesis plan to have at least 36 credits of study. Students may be assigned additional course work to study by audit.
        • Plan A 2 (Course work and Research)
        Combine course work (16 credits) and thesis of at least 20 credits
        Doctor of Philosophy Program in Biomedical Sciences (Ph.D. (Biomedical Sciences))
    The program consists of at least 48 credits of study for applicants with a master degree or equivalent and at least 72 credits of study for applicants with a bachelor degree (honor or excellent academic record) or equivalent. There are four study plans:
        • Plan1.1: Applicants with a master degree or equivalent must take at least 48 credits of thesis.
        • Plan1.2: Applicants with a bachelor degree or equivalent must take at least 72 credits of thesis.
        • Plan2.1: Applicants with a master degree or equivalent must take at least 36 credits of thesis and at least 12 credits of course work.
        • Plan2.2: Applicants with a bachelor degree or equivalent must take at least 48 credits of thesis and at least 24 credits of course work.

  • Program activities


        Academic activities
        1. Journal club
    A conclusive seminar and discussion from the published article related to student’s research interest.
        2. Work progress/thesis progress
    A presentation of up-to-date research progress, including problems, suggestions or comments.
        3. BTS’ seminar
    A seminar given by an invited speaker with a topic of research interest, including the academic knowledge of exchange and sharing.

        Non academic activities
        Recreation activity participation
        To provide recreation for students to relax and to create participating activities such as sport day, community sharing, departmental seminar, New Year meeting.
