Fellowship Training in Pediatric Cardiology

Pediatric cardiology specialty requires a comprehensive training program, as the disease is one of the major health problems in Thailand, and the number of pediatric cardiology is limited. In 2005, The Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University offered a sub-specialty board training in Pediatric cardiology to serve the needs of pediatric cardiologist in Southern Thailand.

Educational objectives

The physicians who graduate with this diploma program would be able to:

Rotation

     1. Clinical Pediatric cardiology & non invasive investigation    42      wks
         - Echocardiogram : TTE & TEE
         - 24 hrs Holter monitor
         - EST
         - Cardiac CT and MRI

     2. Clinical Pediatric Cardiology & invasive investigation 42 wks
          - Right & Left heart catheterization
          - Intervention catheterization
     3. Free elective   12 wks
     4. Research  4 wks

     1. Pediatric cardiology
          - congenital and acquired disease
          - arrhythmia
     2. Adult congenital heart
     3. Principles of Laboratory assessment
         - CXR
         - EKG
         - EST
         - Echocardiogram ; TTE & TEE
         - Cardiac catheterization
         - CT & MRI of the heart
         - Interventional cardiology
     4. Research

    1. Assessment of theory through multiple choices
    2. Assessment of clinical skills through physical examination and medical procedures
    3. Assessment of problem solving skills and decision making through CRQ and long case
